Bug Alert is a British Children's television series, first shown on GMTV in 1996. It featured the antics of a range of bug-like characters who lived in the kitchen of an unnamed house. These creatures apparently only came out when the resident humans were "not about." In the third and final series the characters moved out of the house and opened a somewhat seedy restaurant where they set about serving Weasel Curry to their regular clientele. 78 episodes were made in total and are repeated regularly on GMTV. After the first two series the show format was bought by Channel 4 which commissioned 26 further episodes. These, and the previous series, were aired in their weekend morning slot. The show was characterised by its somewhat adult references and themes, most of which went way above the heads of watching children. The 78 30-minute scripts were co-written by the director Peter Eyre and the main puppeteer, Francis Wright. The executive producer was Catherine Robins of Two Sides TV.

The plot takes place in Bhutin, a fictional country. Crown Prince In and Kaning get married due to a promise between both of their families. Before getting married to Kaning, Prince In had a close friend who is close enough to be called his "girlfriend" named Minnie. He has asked Minnie for her hand in marriage, but Minnie rejected him. Minnie now regrets doing so, and want Prince In back. Also, the former Crown princess also wants the throne back for her son, Prince In's cousin. But as Prince In and Kaning spend time together every day they begin to understand each other more and develop feelings for each other. How will Prince In and Kaning's love story unfold?

It was hosted by figures such as Gualberto Castro, César Costa, Fito Girón and Manolo Muñoz. Some of the sketches of the broadcast were Guillo and the altar boy (Chabelo and the host in turn), La escuelita (Gualberto Castro, La pájara Peggy, Guillo, el Vulgarcito), the ventriloquist and Pujitos (César Costa and Chabelo), La Palabra Canta (Alejandro Suárez) and Mercado de Lágrimas (parody of Valle de Lágrimas and soap operas of the time) and parodies of the musical hits of the moment.
